What (if Anything) Should I Do Before I Get My
Children Tested
For ADHD?I have a
15 y/o daughter, that has been diagnosed with ADHD, and now I'm
starting to see signs in my younger children. Do I need to keep a
journal of their behavior, or what they eat or don't eat? The dr.
said he won't
Test them until next school year
(August). What needs to be done between now and then?

Do
Adhd Children Misbehave At
Home? Is It Possible To Only Show Symptoms At School?I am very
frustrated. My daughters teacher called and told me she 'suspects'
she may have ADHD. She just started kindergarten and is extremely
bright (she scored above average on all her assesments) and mature.
She has been 'misbehaving in school' ie not staying iin her seat,
talking, not paying attention Sometimes, not constantly all day
everyday. When she is at home I do not see the behavior that she is
refereing to. Personally, I think that my daughter is bored as she
comes from a strong Montessori background and already know the
stuff that the teacher is teaching them. I am going to have her
tested
For both (iq and adhd) but everything that
I have pulled up om the internet just reinforces that I think she
is fine. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

How Is A Child Diagnosed
For ADHD?Also: is it the
parent that notices that something is wrong or perhaps the teacher?
Does the parent need to get a referral if they want to make an

How Do You
Test A Child
For
ADHD?Like what kind of doctor does he have to go to? My 9 year old
brother has the worst attention span. We used to joke around and
say omg you have ADD but now I really think he does. He can't focus
on his homework unless someone is hovering over him. If not he just
writes random words or numbers down that don't make any sense. If I
leave him alone doing his HW and check back 30 mins later he is
still on number one, and it's not that it's hard
For him he just doesn't put thought or gets
distracted by an ant or a fly, seriously. And It's not just his HW
but other things that he does , he can barely follow directions. I
just want to know how can we find out if he has
Adhd and that can be covered by insurance right?

Is The Allergy
Test To Help Treat
Adhd Available In Florida? ?I have been told that
it is possible that some
Adhd can be controlled to
some degree if it is found what the child is allergic to and there
is a special allergy
Test For
this that naturalistic doctors can do. I was told about a doctor
that does the testing in Connecticut but I can't remember the name
and I was wondering if any doctors in Florida do this testing.

*Parents Of ADD/ADHD Children*I Need Your Opinions Plz?We recently
had our 6 y/o daughter tested
For ADD/ADHD and she
shows significant signs, but especially in areas like following
through with directions, etc. She is sometimes hyper-active, but
not like people generally think when they hear the term ADHD. She's
a good kid and you can tell that she struggles to do the right
thing; things that are asked of her; she has a lot of trouble with
getting her homework done. Last night she worked on HW from 4 to 7,
tonight from 4 to 7:30. I help her when she is really stuck on
something, but I'm not going to sit there and walk her thru it~how
is that teaching her independence and responsibility? She sits
there and zones out, plays around, etc. So....we're taking her to
the Dr. and I think our best quickest solution right now would be
medication. We have tried ever disciplining and rewarding technique
we can think of to no avail. I do NOT want her to set this pattern
For her life. My ? to you is: what meds have you
found to work? What meds have you found to make your child into a
mini-zombie (which we DON'T want)? How did your child handle being
put on meds? How old is your child/children? Any other relevant
info would be great, and thanks in advance
For the
answers! iychick5~I believe I clearly stated that her problems are
more oriented towards focusing and concentration and not
hyperactivity, so I feel that your hidden accusation that I want to
turn her into a zombie is not only hurtful but really off the mark.
I specifically said that I didn't want her like that. It's not her
activity or lack thereof or too much of that I'm trying to deal
with, I'm trying to get her in good school and life habits so that
she can become a successful, responsible adult. As

For
your input. WOW...I never realized that so many ppl on here could
be so negative and hurtful towards someone seeking help. Those of
you that think I just want to stick her on drugs so I don't have to
deal with her obviously do not have adult level reading skills and
skipped over most of my question. If I didn't want to deal with
her, I wouldn't be concerned and reaching out
For
help. I mean, seriously...why all the cut downs and negativity?
Does it make you feel better or powerful or something? Thanks to
