Weight Loss
Drugs For ADHD?I have a friend who has 2 kids with ADHD. The
one I'm concerned with is the boy: he lost a lot of
Weight on Concerta and honestly, it really zoned
the kid out. I suggested that she look for a different drug -
though as I undestand ALL
Adhd
Drugs will cause some
Weight
loss. So are there are
Drugs that can be used that
aren't such harsh appetite suppressants? Also, I think he was on
the lowest dose of Concerta and was still really zoned. Anything
else that doesn't zone him out so badly? I suggested she go back to
Adderall. It took a higher dose than just the intitial set dose,
but at least the kid was functional. Problem is that she likes him
this way and she actually asks him if he likes himself like this or
'the other way' (w/o drugs). He's 6. And he says yes. (Duh! what
else is he gonna say?) There are so many things wrong with this
scenario and not enough space here.... I'm just really concerned.

Did Adderall Used To Be Prescribed As A
Weight
Loss Prescription?I heard that the prescription
drug Adderall (commonly used to treat ADD/ADHD) used to be
prescribed as a
Weight Loss
medication. I believe this was done in the early 1990s but they no
longer prescribe it for that use. Does anyone have a report or
story online from a reliable source explaining what I'm talking
about? I'm just wondering why it is not used as a
Weight Loss prescription (if it
ever, really was). Thanks!

How Can I Get An Adderall Prescription For
Weight
Loss?I know that Adderall is used for

Weight loss. I would like
to talk to my doctor about it, however, I dont know how. Can anyone
give me some sort of help as to getting it prescribed without
having to take any other drug first? i.e. ritalin for ADD or what
not.

Anyone Know About Stimulant Add/ADHD Drugs? So I was just diagnosed
with ADD.( Attention Deficit Disorder) Im 16 and my doctor
perscribed me Vyvanse. Its a stumulant drug just like Adderall and
Ritalin. A side effect (which is a good one) is
Weight loss. So i was just wondering if anyone
knows like what the average
Weight
Loss for a stimulant drug is for a teen around 180
lbs. Note: I am NOT taking it to lose weight.

Adderall:
Weight Loss As A Side
Effect?I about to begin taking Adderall again for ADHD. The
previous time I took it, I was a healthy weight- but still lost
about 10-15 pounds. I have gained a good deal of
Weight since then...about 50 pounds. Just asking
for personal stories on
Weight
Loss from the drug. I am prescribed the drug. I am
NOT taking it specifically for
Weight loss. Please
do not lecture me on the dangers of Adderall, or on the ease of
exercising rather than relying on a drug. I am not relying on the
drug for
Weight loss, just looking forward to the
benefit of it's
Weight Loss side
effect. Any personal experiences are welcome! I am 5'2, 190 pounds.
When I previously took the drug I was about 150, and got down to
140 within a few months. How much did you lose? What was the time
frame? Most importantly, Did you ever regain your normal appetite?
Does appetite return ON the drug??

Weight
Loss With Adderall?I have been on Adderall
XR 20 mg every day for my ADHD. I have lost around 10 lbs in the
first 2-3 weeks. Has anyone else experienced this? Before anyone
starts preaching...I am a nurse. I see patients with ADD/ADHD all
the time. I know it is not intended for
Weight
loss, and I know about the DEA and how it's illegal to mis-use the
drug. I am on it for my
Adhd and know that
Weight Loss is a common side
effect. I know it's 'normal' in a sense to lose a bit of weight,
which usually returns once you stop the medication. I am not
seeking it as a
Weight Loss aid.
This post is ONLY to hear others' experience with it. a) what dose
are/were you on? b) how much
Weight did you lose?
c) time frame you lost the weight? d) medication help you overall?
THANKS :) ~any degrading or rude comments will be immediately
deleted~ ---I don't need a website for
Weight
loss. I'm asking about if others experienced
Weight Loss with Adderall.

INTERSTED IN

Are Doctors, Pharmaceutical Cos. And Parents Turning Kids Into A
Generation Of Hypochondriacs?Do side-effects, like mental and
pschological flaws, etc. etc. no longer the cobcern of doctors,
pharmaceutical corporations and parents about this nation's future
generations as long as there's a quick solution to the kids'
problems through popping pills, like candies. into their system?
CNN has just reported that Adderall, an amphetamine used to treat
ADD/ADHD, has been unethically been prescribed to fat little
children to let them fight obesity!
http://www.diet-blog.com/archives/2007/03/26/adderall_as_a_weight_loss_drug.php
Are there so many unethical adults - too lazy to work with time and
energy to help kids to accept better ways to solve their health
problems? Has America gone crazy with drug-pumping into their
system to force their citizens to become a nation of hypochondriacs
and weirdos, like Russ Lembaugh? Maybe, it's time parents, doctors
and pharmaceutical cos. should be held responsible for those kids
who grow up with mental problems to hurt society? Isn't it time
that parents research and keep a record on all pills prescribed to
their children to study the mental and phsical changes to their
kids? In this way, they have the records to sue the pharmaceutical
cos. for the
Drugs they believe to have caused ill
changes to their children?

Developing A Tolerance To
Adhd Meds?I'm 23 years
old, out of college, and was recently prescribed Vyvanse by my
psych. This is my first time taking any meds for ADHD. He gave me
60 30mg pills for the month. He said start on 30mg, and if I feel
like I need more, try a second pill. On Monday, I took 1 30mg pill.
Within an hour, I started having a feeling of euphoria as well as a
headache. Despite the headache, I was able to focus like I never
have before. I also had trouble going to sleep that night. No
appetite. (For an overweight person such as myself, this was good
news). On Tuesday, I took the same dosage and felt the same
effects. The headache wasn't as bad, I was just as focused and
still had not much of an appetite. I didn't have as much trouble
sleeping. On Wednesday, same dosage with euphoria and only a slight
headache, but my appetite seemed to be returning, but not full
force. My focus level was improved but not nearly as noticeable as
it was on Monday and Tuesday. It also wore off within 8-ish hours
rather than 12-14 like the previous two days. This morning, I took
30mg again. The euphoria was slight, no headache, and my appetite
and focus were almost like I hadn't taken the drug at all. All the
effects seemed slight and distant. So, about an hour ago, I took a
second 30mg pill. The euphoria is as intense as it was on Monday
(maybe even more), my appetite is gone again, and my focus is
great. But this concerns me. It took only three-four days for my
body to adjust to the 30mg dose. And now I'm on 60mg. How long
before I adjust to that? 70mg is the highest dose you can get, so
it's disheartening to think that this dose will stop working in a
week or so and I'll be back to square one living with
Adhd and being one step closer to losing my job.
So, here are my questions: 1. Is this just my body telling me that
I need more 30mg? I am a big guy with a high tolerance for alcohol,
so I don't know if that translates to needing a higher dose or not.
2. Do people normally gain a tolerance for stimulants to the point
where they no longer work without taking dangerous amounts? If
that's the case, what can I do to prevent this? 3. If the same
thing happens with the 60mg dose (it stops helping me), what's my
next step? 4. Do
Adhd patients have to switch meds
frequently to avoid tolerance? 5. Will the suppressed appetite
symptoms go away, too? I know the medication shouldn't be used for
Weight loss, but I am very overweight, and
compulsive eating and overeating is one of my
Adhd
symptoms. 6. What about the euphoria? If the euphoria fades, is
that a sign that my focus level will begin declining as well?
