What Is A Good Resource For Single Mothers Who Need Grants For Continuing Education?I'm looking to go back to college, I graduated back In 2003. I'm a Single mom and I work one full time job. I've been searching For Grants that can help me further my education and I've applied For the pell grant and another one. But that leaves me about 5,000 short For school. I don't want to have to apply For a loan because I know they check credit and that takes off points on my credit score. Does anyone know of any charities, business, Government Grants or scholarships that award or give money For college? I don't know if it helps but my major is digital movie production. Financial Grants For Adult Single Mothers Going To College?I am 32 and just started college. Most of my College is paid For thru FASFA. I was told there should be some other Government (possibly state, but don't think so ((missouri))) aid that actually pays you to go to College (my major is Criminal Justice). I was told that there should be a program where the Government gives you x amount of money to help pay For books, gas and other expenses ((around maybe $1500?, is what I was told)) (¬ money you pay back) and they pay you x amount of money each semester you attend as long as you are maintaining a satisfactory gpa. The financial aid office at the College didn't mention anything of this sort to me, I really think they just didn't want to bother with helping or looking into it. Can anybody help me out with this? Why Don't I Qualify For Government Grants For College Tuition?I am a third year student at a public state university and this is the first year I filled out my FAFSA on time For the deadline, so I was expecting some small grant from the federal Government to help cover my tuition. Obviously, that didn't happen. A bit of background: I come from a Single parent household (my mother passed away when I was 10) with two older siblings, one of which attended a 2 year university. My dad has been retired from his Government job For at least 7 years, but he does receive a pension of something around $37,000. I realize that the Government believes I am his dependent (until I am 24?), but I am not and I pay For College out of my own pocket. On a side note, neither of my parents are College graduates, and my mother worked For the school district before she passed. I have several friends who come from circumstances similar to mine (single parent, lower income) and they always receive large Grants which cover a bulk of their tuition, yet I am only offered Stafford loans (which I am grateful for, mind you.) Is there something I have overlooked? Why am I not offered any grants, as many of my peers are? I work two jobs, and with the tuition increases set For next year I am barely going to scrape by, if that. My family seems to think I should receive SOMETHING In the way of grants. As A Single Working Professional Woman, Why Are We Always Penalized For Not Having Children?I am In the process of buying a home and I am increasingly frustrated about the number of things that I don't qualify For since I don't have a child!! It's like the Government awards unwed Mothers and having children out of wedlock!! I almost want to have a child just to get the benefits!! I couldn't get Grants For college. Why Do People Have Negative Answers When Someone Is Seeking Out Advice And/or Help?I've been reading a lot of questions and answers on here and I must say that people are rude when someone asks a general question. For example, I was reading a question from a woman who wanted to know if anyone knew any Government grant sites because she is continuing her education and she is also a Single mother. Someone answered her question and told her that she needed to go to community College and stop having babies. How outrageous is that? Why do people feel that they need to answer questions?
