Cholesterol Queries Are Bogus.What
you've been told about
Cholesterol the last 35
years is largely false. Here is the truth: 1. Too low a
Cholesterol can result in a stroke. 2. 97% of the
body's
Cholesterol is produced by your own liver
in response to genetics and lifestyle: eggs are good for you;
controlling
Cholesterol by diet is like
controlling cancer by playing bingo 3.
Cholesterol
is a normal waxy body substance and the biggest user is the human
brain: not enough
Cholesterol for the brain and
you die or are crippled by a stroke 4. Some primitive rural peoples
have
Cholesterol levels above 350 and are
perfectly healthy 5. There are two types of cholesterol: good or
high-density (HDL)
Cholesterol is a special fat
that we need in our bloodstreams. HDL helps carry
Bad low-density (LDL)
Cholesterol
from the body. 6. If your HDL/LDL ratio is very high, it doesn't
matter what your overall
Cholesterol readings are,
you are still far healthier than someone with a 120 reading and 102

How To Raise My HDL (good Cholesterol) Levels?I just had a simple
blood test and my triglycerides are norma (103) and I got a good
low
Ldl (bad cholesterol) level...107. But my HDL
is only 38! I was overweight three months prior to taking the blood
test and during the three months prior to the test I lost 30lbs.
The three months before the test, I've been eating mostly nutrient
foods (poultry, veggies, and fruit). I also exercise regularly.
What else can I do to raise my HDL levels? What foods may help? Why
is my HDL level so low when everything else is good. I will also be
seeing a doctor once my health insurance kicks in, but just wanted
to hear what others have to say.

What Is The Lowest Level

Can Be, And Still Be Save? Is A Level Below 100 (ie, A Level Of
60), OK?A recent cat-scan, stress-test, was performed on a close
family member, which found a blockage. When the blockage was being
seen about, to be corrected, that blockage was found to be worse
than first thought. And a second blockage was found. Both blockages
were corrected, by clearing the blockages out, and stints placed in
the effected areas. Since that point, the family member has advised
me (thank goodness) to have the test run on myself, as quickly as
we can get it set up. What I'm also wondering, is she was advised
by her doctor, that they are going to work on getting her
Bad Cholesterol levels, down to
60. What I want to know, is: what is a safe level for the
Bad Cholesterol to be at? Between
100-175; or is below 100 a better level to be at?

Is Very Low
Cholesterol Bad? Should I Try To Raise
It?I have very low cholesterol. I remember having it checked and my
total
Cholesterol was 85. The HDL/
Ldl ratios were fine. The doctor seemed astonished
and asked if I ran marathons. Which I don't; I'm just a vegetarian
who eats reasonably well. Should I be trying to raise my
cholesterol? Should I eat eggs and fatty food? Thanks.

The Difference Between HDL And
Ldl Cholesterol?I
am a graphic designer and I have to illustrate a Low Density
Lipoprotein (LDL) and a High Density Lipoprotein. I understand the
difference between the two:
Ldl is bad, HDL is
good etc, but am finding it difficult to understand what the
difference in appearance would be. What does a
Ldl
look like next to a HDL? Does the HDL have more Apoprotein? Do the
Cholesterol molecules look the same in each? Is
there the same amount of
Cholesterol in each? Is
it just the actual 'density' of the lipoprotein that is different
(so should I make the components of the HDL look more
'clustered'?). I am illustrating these concepts for the general
public, so any ideas about how I can express this in an easy to
understand way would be appreciated! Also, not quite sure what the
difference is between the
Cholesterol esters
(inside the lipoprotein) and the
Cholesterol that
is located around the edge of the lipoprotein amongst the
Apoprotein? Are they the same in both
Ldl and HDL?
Thanks!
