Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Median Nerve - Im 13 I Think I Might Have Carpal Tunnel? SCARED! Can It Kill You Or What???? =[? One of the first symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome is gradual numbness in the areas supplied by the median nerve. This is quickly followed by pain where the nerve gives sensation in the hand. The hand may begin to feel like its asleep especially in the early morning hours after a nights sleep. Pain may spread up the arm to the shoulder and even to the side of the neck. If the condition progresses the thenar muscles of the thumb can start to weaken and atrophy causing the hand to be clumsy when picking up a glass or cup. If the pressure keeps building in the hand the thenar muscles may begin to shrink (atrophy). Touching the pad of the thumb to the tips of the other fingers becomes difficult making it hard to grasp items such as a steering wheel newspaper or telephone. okay that is what i feel like. i dont feel any pins or needles or any wrist pain. i feel liek this weird idk how to explain it but liek wierd sensation idk weak? IDK its liek i cant hold anything heavy or naything idk!!!! YOU TELL ME! lol but it happens at times not all the time.. i mscared can it kill you? is there cure for it? is this normal? does this happen to you? - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Median Nerve

Possible Carpal Tunnel.. But Not The Right Area.?I have been playing my game system and puttin some serious hours in it. However, tonight i experienced an EXTREME pain in the center of my left wrist. I looked up CTS(Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) and its not hurting where the Nerve affected by CTS is. It's smack center of my wrist. I put on my ace bandage and it is still hurting like HECK. It's not swollen. I do however make sure to move my wrist around so I keep circulation. There is no tingly or numbness or anything else in my hand. My hand does not hurt; it is solely my wrist. I use both hands to play and don't understand why BOTH wrists aren't in pain. Should I apply ice? Though, there isn't any swelling as I have stated above. Could CTS still be a possible answer? (((the pain is too far above the Median nerve.))) [ Read More ]

Another Carpal Tunnel Question...?I have been wearing splints for a few weeks for my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and the symptoms have improved. I now wear them mainly at night. I've been told that I need surgery. Nerve conduction testing showed that I have mild Median Nerve neuropathy. Does this refer to damage that has already taken place? I am wondering whether this means I have some level of fibrosis already and, if so, does this mean that any inflammation in the wrist will always result in CTS symptoms unless i have surgery. What about corticosteroid injections? I have a raft of people telling me I should avoid surgery, however the surgeon has told me it is usually highly successful. Will I suffer any permanent thumb weakness following surgery? Thanks! Thanks for the answers so far. I have the classic Carpal Tunnel symptoms - thumb, pointer, middle and half ring finger. Numbness, tingling, pain, some thumb weakness. I am a dental professional so am in a high risk category for CTS. My symptoms have improved with rest and splints (not working at present while home with kids) but if I go a night or two without them the symptoms start coming back. I can get fee free treatment (I'm in Australia), so I don't believe money is the issue with disgnosis. I was diagnosed by an independent neurologist. I guess my main concern is, will everything I do that is non-surgical will only relieve symptoms until I stop doing it? And what are the (typical) risks involved with surgery? (I know all surgery has risks) What are the chances of thumb weakness later? (Given I already have some and have been told it may get worse) [ Read More ]

Will My Doctor Prescribe Pain Medication For My Carpal Tunnel?I visited my family doctor last week about the symptoms I had been experiencing. She told me It sounds like I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. She gave me a wrist brace to wear. Although this helps keep movement to a minimum, the pain can be extremely bothersome and keeps me from being able to get work done at my job. I have tried ibprofuen and aleve for NSAIDs to reduce swelling of the Median Nerve but it doesn't seem to do much of anything. Would it be beneficial for me to call the doctor and ask to prescribe something for the pain? Or is that not an option with Carpal tunnel? [ Read More ]
