How Can I Stop Stuttering? It's not like I stutter when I'm nervous--I stutter all the time, even when I'm completely relaxed, and just talking To a family member. I can't even tell a story normally or understandably because I stutter so much. It's been a problem since I was a child. What can I do about it? [ Read More ]

Does Anyone Have A Child (3 Yr Old) Who Has A Stuttering Problem That Comes And Goes?I have a 3 yr old daughter who has just developed a stutter as of Feb. At first it was very minimal..only certain words..like I..I..I..or B-B-Baby and I thought it was just her speaking To quickly or getting excited about something..then other people would start To notice and it was getting worse. I asked her daycare if any other child had a Stuttering problem or if they noticed anything In my daughter. At the time they didn't notice anything.I researched everything there was on Stuttering and it all says that you should not finish there sentences or tell them To slow down or point it out To them. So from the beginning we did not let her know that we noticed it. I questioned wether it was something To get my attention because up until recently I was a single mother and she was used To having only my attention at all times..I am now In a very serious relationship and my boyfriend has completely accepted my daughter as his own and she is now calling him daddy. The one thing that really concerns me is that this Stuttering seems To come and go..when it develops it's very minor and then when it's at its worse (every word) ..within a few days it seems To get better. My daycare has actually commented How bad it's getting that sometimes they can't even understand what she's saying. I have seen signs of frusturation when she's trying To get a word out she will stick her head out almost trying To force the word out. I just can't figure out what is triggering this To happen. The other day when we were sitting at the table my boyfriend noticed that my daughter was not the same..she looked disoriented..stared off into space..she wasn't herself..and this was when the daycare was commenting on How bad her Stuttering was...within a few days it was gone..completely gone.. She tends To look disoriented once she wakes up from nap time..and even at times unresponsive..even To ask her To do a simple task such as put your pants on is sometimes hard for her. It's almost like she's having mini seizures and once she has one the Stuttering starts..and then when she has another one the Stuttering stops. Has anybody else seen there child develop a stutter and then Stop for a few weeks and then come back? [ Read More ]

My Car Has A Mild Stutter/hesitation When Accelerating From A Full Stop, What Could Be The Problem?I have a feeling it may be transmission, because I have a pretty crappy transmission... the engine has been great - its a very resilient 1991 Volvo 740 Station Wagon (I love the car like its my child)... How Do I Stop Being Awkward Around Men?Lets just say as a child a certain adult was very inappropriate with me, and I kept my secret well for famly's sake as I was told To do. But as I grow, I find it more and more difficult To have normal, healthy relationships with the people In my life. Any form of intimacy, anything such as holding hands, To cuddling, To a peck on the cheek or mouth, brings back uncomfortable memories, and the older man's face replaces the person I am with. After this point, I am utterly repulsed, and just want To run away. I don't know if there'll ever be a point where I'll be capable of sexual intimacy. All my other relationships are just as screwed up, because I always have trust and boundary issues, and I get upset by the slightest of things. I am a very shy/quiet girl In person. When I'm around men, I get very nervous, I often say stupid things, or stutter, or answer with single words or nods, or don't say anything at all. I know I come off as rude, when I'm not tyrin To be. How do I fix myself? Buck: I can't and I never will...I made a promise To my mother, and I plan on keeping it...when these things happen internally, it's a lot more complicated than when it happens with a stranger. I don't expect you To understand. I want To help myself. I am not trying To get attention by flaunting something like this, otherwise I would have told a long time ago. I don't expect anyone To understand. Thanks for your input anyway... [ Read More ]

Please Read More!?Well my son was born with a speech disorder ( Stuttering ) and came home today crying because he claimed that his peers were teasing him and making fun of him. Because I was In a rush at the moment I wasn't able too see the kids who were bothering him, I simply had To go. He is still crying and I can't get him To stop. Now he isn't crying like making a scene, he's crying To himself and is trying To hide it. I tried telling him To ignore them but he keeps on telling me about How they wer copying his stuttering. Now I'm wondering if I should go To the school and set up a meeting with the kids and their parents or If I should just tell my child To accept being judged and teased. I would really hate To lose a day's pay for this noncess but it seems like its the right thing To do. How bad could these little 3rd graders be? Please help. [ Read More ]

How Long Did You Or Your Child Stutter?I have an 8 year old about To enter 3rd grade who suffers from stuttering. She had stopped talking altogher by age 4 (after vaccine injury), but now she is able To speak well, with the exception of her stuttering. (Started as 'word-finding' at age 5). She's working with a speech therapist at school (independent private). I have also taken most sugars out of her diet, all organic, etc. Her intelligence is above average. Her homelife is very stable. Why is she still stuttering? How long will it be before she is able To stop? Will it ever end? Our dr.s (including holistic) and therapist say it should be gone by age 12. But a few years ago, they told us by age 8! :( I'm concerned for her, her feelings, not myself. She's becoming more shy because of it. It saddens me. [ Read More ]

Does This Children Story Sound Good To You? (2)?Gah! I thought I could fit the whole story In one question! I hate How you can only work with so many characters. T-T http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhhetDUYhNGda2EWRVQG95fsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090328182722AAIiT2n Just like my first question, whould this make a good Children story? Is it too harsh? what could I consider changing? etc. Thanks Plump of Kindness (2) “I’m terribly sorry Kayode. Did I frighten you?” The overweight elephant asked. “Yes you did frighten me a little, and I’m the one who should be saying sorry for…wait, you know my name?” The warthog questioned. “Of course I know your name! I’m a friend of one of the warthogs In your sounder and she has told me that you are very kind and helpful.” Said the elephant Kayode was confused at first. Then he realized that one of the warthogs In his sounder did In fact have an elephant as a friend. He also recalls that she said his name was Baruti. The warthog now had a look of realization on his face and said, “Oh, you must be Baruti.” The elephant nodded. “It’s an honor To meet you, Baruti.” Kayode said with a weak smile. “Kayode, I came over here because I heard you crying.” Baruti was getting right down To the point of why he interrupted the warthog’s sobbing. “You heard me crying all the way from the burrow?” Kayode asked. “You bet I did. You were crying so loud, I wouldn’t even need these big ears. What seems do be troubling you?” Baruti questioned “I’m fat and worthless.” Kayode sniffled. Baruti was displeased by this answer “Worthless? Now who would tell you a silly lie like that?” Baruti asked with a little smug on his face, already having a good guess of who it was. “Arria the cheetah told me this, and it’s not a lie, it’s the sad true!” Kayode wailed. “You, worthless? Ha, that is a lie!” Baruti exclaimed with amusement. Kayode looked confused. “But I’m fat and that would make me useless. No one likes fat animals.” Kayode responded. “Arria doesn’t know what she’s talking about. It’s not the body that other animals should like…. it’s the way you act that they should like.” Baruti said this In a matter -of – fact type of way. “Really?” Kayode asked. Barui continued. “As you should know Kayode, your sounder loves you because you care about them. Your plump body doses not bother them. They only care about your kindness and your kindness is the reason why you’re so big.” Kayode became dumbfounded when Baruti said that it was his kindness that was getting him fat. “I- I don’t understand.” He stuttered. “You’re not fat from food Kayode, but fat from all the kind and caring things you do for your sounder. So every kind thing you do for someone, you get a little heavier.” Said Baruti. “Dose this only happens To me, Baruti?” Kayode asked. Baruti chuckled. “No, this happens To every kindhearted animal, but the coldhearted and wicked animals like Arria, lose so much weight that you’re able To see their bones.” The chubby warthog thought for a moment before asking another question. “Sorry if I offend you In anyway, but I can see that you are so much bigger than me. Dose that mean you do kind things for your heard all the time?” “Twenty-four hours a day! I love To help my heard! I do so much for them!” Baruti yelled cheerfully. Kayode studied the elephant’s large body for a second and then resumed To the conversation. “But you can’t get that big for only caring for your heard?” Baruti swung his trunk oddly back and forth as he spoke. “You see, Kayode, not only I help my heard, but I also help other animals out like pulling a thorn out of a loin’s paw, giving advice To termites on How they could decorate their mound, searching for young giraffes that strayed away from their mothers, and comforting the mongooses that are upset about the name of their species.” Kayode was amazed by How helpful this elephant really was. “Wow, a lot of other animals know you then?” “A lot of animals know Arria to, but not In a very good way.” The plumped elephant said. “I just wish that she could be nice To other animals and not judge their bodies.” Kayode said with a sigh.” “Baruti stopped swinging his trunk and replied, “Her body is hungry and she needs To feed it with kindness.” The warthog gave him one of his biggest grins before he spoke. “Thank you so much, Baruti for your wise words. They helped me a lot and you encouraged me To not only help my sounder, but other animals.” “My pleasure, Kayode. Just remember that the more kindness you show means the more you will gain.” With that, the elephant strolled off In the opposite direction of Kayode, Heading back To his heard. The chubby warthog couldn’t help but notice that Baruti just got a tad bit bigger after their conversation. As Kayode was happily returning To his sounder, he saw Arria, bawling under an umbrella tree as a black mamba slithers out In the distance away from her. Kayode wondered if the snake bit her. With concern, Kayode dashed over by her To m Nohoho! It did it again! >< [ Read More ]
