final license for two new reactors located at the currently
operating Vogtle nuclear power plant near Augusta, Georgia.

On January 26, Mayor Michael Nutter presented his new "crime
fighting measures," which was widely reported. As if to publicize
the monophonic nature of the new plan, Nutter was accompanied by
Police Commissioner Ramsey and District Attorney Seth Williams,
both of whom represent law enforcement.

In 2011, concerned citizens of DeKalb County, Georgia initiated the
formation of a grassroots community organization, CHASE, to stop
the proposed approval of a biomass incinerator. As a watchdog
organization, CHASE informs the community of proposed projects that
will have a negative environmental impact that can result in
illness for DeKalb residents, especially the children. CHASE has
challenged Green Energy Partners Inc., a biomass incinerator
business, on its proposal to put a plant in Lithonia. Extensive
research has shown that it is environmentally unhealthy and can
cause or worsen lung diseases such as asthma.

Green Party leaders welcomed the news of the withdrawal of US
troops from Iraq by the end of December, calling the presidential
order more than eight years overdue. Greens urged President Obama
to let the troops come home to be with their families for the
