As the high minister, he was responsible, once every year, to enter
the Most Holy Place and provide a making amends sacrifice for the
state.
He judged, he instructed the folk in matters of worship, he gave
counsel he applied his complete life to serving in the church of
The Lord God and ministering to the requirements of his family. But
he used to be a passive, inactive pop who indulged his boys.
Eli's pointless boys denied God's instructions and reserved the
choicest cuts of beef for their dining table. Along with their
outrageous disregard for the sacrifices of The Lord God, they were
bizarre men who took sexual virtue of the girls who came to
worship. And they really did so without shame, right there in the
house of Almighty God. You might think a real man of the Lord God
like Eli would be enraged.
Remember, he also served as lsrael's judge, suggesting that his
responsibility was to perform justice for God. These boys of brazen
lust should have been carried to the fringe of town and stoned to
death. It's been my observation that Eli's paralysis of leadership
isn't surprising. To avoid his destiny, every one of us today must
recognize that our family could really simply finish up like
Eli's.
Yes, any family can come unraveled-an elder's family, a clergyman's
family, a missionary family whose pa walks with Almighty God and
pours his heart into a church-rich, poor, healthy, strained
It is straightforward to lose your bearings in the hurricane. You
can't find your way thru the circumstances you are facing. In
Luke's words,'All hope of our being saved' is deserted. At that
tough, gut-wrenching moment, God claims,'Don't be scared, I'm in
possession of a plan.'. Folk facing intense difficulty find it
tough to target anything apart from the soaring waves and stinging
winds. We've heard from the Lord that none will be lost.'
Your bent will be to turn to another source for strength instead of
the Word of the Lord. The sole anchor of stability that will hold
you firm, regardless of how intense the gale-force winds, is God's
written Word. All this makes me think about a statement made by one
of the normal Jewish prophets, which supports the trustworthiness
of the Lord God and His Word. 'Do not fear, I have called you by
name.' What a great thought. Isaiah was not writing of literal
waters or precise brooks.

Rodney
Howard Browne explains that even in human relations, you can
fail if you don't work on the relationship and if you leave
everything up to the other person. WE are folk who need to stick to
the Lord. Accept accountability for your life and your blessing ;
don't be lazy, lackadaisical, or messy in your walk with the Father
; do not take Him for granted. If you want God's best in your life,
if you want His blessings, you need to press in to Him and stick to
Him and His word as if your life depends on it as it does.
