Could I Be A
Horse Trainer
Or
Riding Instructor?ive had horses my whole life
and show in 4-H but i pretty much always place last because ive
never had real lessons or anything like that,my mom taught me and
she just does backyard
Riding so ive never learned
all the little details to win a show but id say im still a good
rider just not show material you could say lol. but this year i
want to take lessons and work REALLY hard at being a better rider.
and because of a family/personal problem i got my GED so im not in
school anymore so i will have a lot of time to focus on being a
better rider. and once im ready i want to go to lake erie college
and take the equestrian
Trainer classes. so do you
think if i work really hard and take lessons i will be able to be a
Trainer even though im not as good as everyone
else in 4-H right now? thanks =] sorry for all the typos im really
tired lol alright thanks! i hope your right =]

What To Expect For First-time
Horse
Riding Lessons?I'm starting
Riding lessons shortly after the October long
weekend from a well-known friend of mine. He is a professional
Horse Trainer and I've arranged
some well-priced private lessons with him. My question is, what
should I expect for my first time on a horse, and what should I be
aware of. Also, which clothes do I need to wear? I know a helmet,
boots, and gloves are essentials. Do I absoloutly have to wear
breeches? Please no silly or serious answers. 10 points for most
thoughough and informativive answer. Oh, and if you actually ride
horses, that would be great! Thanks Ellie I'm doing English Style
Riding, not western. All you people have great answers so far!
Thanks for all the help you've given me! It will be hard to choose
the best answer though.

What Can A
Horse Trainer Compete
In At A
Horse Show?Does anyone know of a website
that lists the classes that a
Horse
instructor/trainer can ride in at
Horse shows? I
know that trainers can only ride in certain classes because they
are at a higher level than other riders and it deems it 'unfair'
and 'unfit' for a
Trainer to compete in a class
against riders that are on the same level as their students. I'm
trying to find out a definite as to what classes a
Trainer is allowed to ride in without causing
problems. Thanks!

Do You Think My
Riding Trainer
Will Be Angry With Me? Also, Tips On My New Horse? So. I'm 16 and
did english pleasure from the time I was four until I was 10, when
I began dressage. I started jumping when I was 12, and have been
doing dressage and jumping since then (though technically I'm not
allowed to jump...but my father is fine with it and says it's all
right as long as I don't tell my mother). I used to lease an
Anglo-Arab, and then moved barns and now lease an Appendix from my
trainer's friend. However, my own friend, who recently moved to my
barn, is now having trouble...she can no longer afford her horse,
and asked me to ride her
Horse for a video to show
potential buyers. Well, I rode the horse...and I completely fell in
love with her, connected like I've never done with any other horse.
She's a handful, definitely, but I adore her, and she's a natural
jumper. So I agreed to lease her. Now I've got to break off the
lease with my trainer's friend, and try to explain what's happened.
Plus, this particular mare is young, just 7 years old, and an
off-track TB...she's done english pleasure and hunter jumping, but
has no dressage training and is utterly inexperienced with being
supple and round. My
Trainer and I are going to
have to put in a lot of work with her. Basically, what I'm asking
is...would my
Trainer have a reason to be angry
with me? Also, tips on training a green dressage horse? I mean,
I've worked up to half-pass before (granted, on a
Horse that was already familiar with the
movement), but I can't imagine how I'd go about teaching a
Horse to get round, as all the horses I've ridden
have already been taught that... Anyway. All thoughts are
appreciated. Thanks very much! No, my lease agreement is
month-to-month, so I won't be breaking my agreement. Plus I'm going
to pay for an extra month, just so she has some notice to find a
new leaser.

A Studying Dressage-horse
Trainer Looking To Start
Western Riding/training?A little background; I've been trained in
dressage for nine years but have ridden the past three summers out
on a working ranch, herding, training young foals and doing general
ranch work. I am in college, studying to be a dressage
Horse trainer. This summer I am transferring to
another college with a better equine science degree and a dressage
program. My current program does not allow me any
Riding time until senior year and is not specific
enough. I'm starting to get bored with riding, which horrifies me.
I understand that there will be bored stunts while
Riding but this has been going on for about a
year. So while thinking back on my happiest times
Riding I realized they've all been while on the
ranch, herding horses, cutting cattle, helping young foals and
racing along the plains. I know that there are boring parts of
everyone's jobs but I'm starting to wonder if western
Riding is where I want to be? I greatly enjoy
cutting cattle. I've never had formal western lessons but
understand and use neck reining and know the tack, etc. So my
question is; Is it hard to start a professional western
Riding career after only knowing dressage and some
hunter/jumping (my least favorite)? I've heard reining is the
western world's form of dressage. I want to be happy and enjoy my
job and life, be able to support myself, and not regret an
in-the-moment decision. Has anyone been in this dilemma before?

Riding time and I continue

anyone have any ideas on what kinds of exercises under saddle I can
do with her. She is still hard with turns and moving forward as she
won't move sometimes.

How Do You Tame A Fiery, Evil Spirit In A Stubborn Horse?
Riding Crop Or Gentle Rider? My 2000 red dun is as
stubborn as can be. My
Trainer just smacks him
with the
Riding crop, but some people say only a
gentle hand can tame Rooster's spirit. Rooster tosses his head,
paws, and bolts and bucks when he doesn't get something he wants.
He's just a spoiled rotten brat. What should I do?

Should I Tell My
Trainer I Want To Be Switched To
Another Horse?I felt really bad for this
Horse
because it didn't seem like anybody wanted to ride her. So I tried
her out one day and I have been
Riding this
Horse for about two months. Then, she bucked me
off. She's always been a little headstrong but for the most part, I
could control her up until that point. Ever since that day, I have
been scared to use leg aids with her when she doesn't do what I say
because I guess I'm afraid she'll get a sudden burst of energy and
decide she wants to buck again. For a while I thought it was just
me. I thought she didn't like me or something. But then, another
girl from the barn with a lot more experience than me rode her and
got bucked off too. I'm not confident
Riding this
Horse even if she's being really good. There's
another mare that is pretty calm and I really enjoy
Riding her. I don't want to give up on the first
Horse but I'm just not confident on her. Should I
tell my
Trainer that I want to be switched to the
calmer
Horse or should I stick it out?
