Horse Training Techniques - Horse Training?I was thirteen when I began to help train horses. Well now I am 14 and train horses and I love it. Well I would love to be a horse trainer when I am older. Well my dad was talking about when I turn 16 getting me into one of those clinques put on by someone like John Lyons or something that will teach me how to train...not exactly sure what its all about. I was wondering if someone could give me details about it and any other techniques on ground train ride training? Anything that will help me improve on training. - Horse Training Techniques

Has Anyone Ever Heard Of Cracking An Egg On A Horse's Head As A Training Technique? My Horse is into its sixth week on Training and still showing to be a bit stubborn - she's an Apaloosa and would love to be the alpha mare but isn't. The trainer talked to another trainer and he said that if she does something like buck, rear, or bite our feet we should crack an egg on her head, because horses don't like things to run down their face and she will actually think it is blood running down and maybe think okay I just made myself bled so I won't do that again. I think we are going a little crazy now - somethings I was okay with but this one seems a bit wacky to me - what do you think? [ Read More ]

Help With Horse Training - Bending And Circles?Hi! thanks so much for reading! I own a 5 year old Clydesdale Mare, named Babe. I have her to the point where she can walk, trot, canter, and do small single jumps. I have started leg yielding with her, which is going decently. She can do walk - trot - walk, and walk - halt - walk, perfectly, and does a great job with halt-trot -halt transitions. so she is responsive for transitions but not so much for bending. When I ask her to do a 20 meter circle, at the walk or trot, I cant make her bend her body around my leg, now, I think there is a possibility of my legs just being a little weak, but i don't think it should have that much impact, because I can ride well on other horses. When I do a circle, i get too much of her front end turning, and it makes the circle go from a 20 meter circle, to a 15, it just gets smaller. she bends her head and neck, and shoulders, but not her ribcage or hind end. I think im using to strong of an inside rein, and not enough leg.. but even if I try to fix that she still doesn't get it. Ive started teaching her turn on the forehand, as Ive heard it can help with bending. If any one can tell me a good Training or riding technique to teach my Horse to bend her entire body around the circle, Id be grateful. Oh! almost forgot, she also speeds up a little when I do a circle, and resists a tiny bit. Thanks for reading such a long question! [ Read More ]

About The Parelli's Training Techniques?!?I heard a story of a girl who had a pony and was doing the Parelli thing where you ride your horse/pony with no bridle... and the pony flipped out for no reason and threw the girl into a tractor trailer and then kicked her. =O I don't think that the Parelli technique's work for everyone. Do you? ( I like the Parelli's techniques... I just don't think that they work for everyone. ) [ Read More ]
