Summary: Learning To Ride Horses - Marvelous Valuable

Learning To Ride Horses - Learning To Ride Horses And Going Cross Country In The States?Im thinking of what Im going to do on my year (or two years) out after university as I cant be bothered to get a job for a while. I quite like the idea of going to america or canada and learning to ride horses (just basics) and riding across some of the country. Do people do this a lot? Can you rent a horse for a significant length of time? Are there any legal requirements when it comes to owning/riding a horse (insurance license limitations on where you can take it?) Would I actually need to take lessons or could I just read a book and give it a go as all I would just be going along slowly? Im pretty keen to avoid going on a package holiday. Cheers Costs? I have no time limit as well I would be looking at around maybe 2 - 3 months on horseback is this unrealistic? - Learning To Ride Horses

Learning To Ride A Horse; Am I Doing Something Wrong? Here's the skinny. I'm Learning To Ride on my BFF's horse (my horse is getting broken). I do the kick, kiss thing and if she is not being lead by another horse she will give me hell and won't move. After a while she'll go but I have To raise the reins like I am going To hit her with them and then she'll go. Also I am Learning To work the reins, so I have To pull really hard and jerk her for her To turn the direction that I want her To turn. I have also ridden my boyfriends horse (Sugar Momma) and she is not like Missy, I can Ride her with one hand on the rein and just touch (with either my pinky fgr or my ptr finger)whatever side of the rein that I want her To go. I only have To kick her one time and she is moving until I tell her otherwise. My BFF says it's me; my honey says that it's the horse. So is it me b/c I'm Learning and I am doing something wrong or is my bff's horse just giving me a hard time. [ Read More ]

What Kind Of Horse Did You First Learn To Ride On?just wondering about it. i learned To Ride on a gorgeous 15 hand, dappled buckskin QH stallion. he was beautifully and impeccably trained, and responded To voice commands as well. he was a bit of a challenge, being quite a bit of horse for a 3-8 year old little girl, but i feel that im better for it because im good with 'problem' horses. any stories? secret: ive never, ever ridden a pony. is that weird?
